Featherbed Nature Reserve eco-tours relaunched

The Featherbed Nature Reserve, situated on the Western Head in Knysna, is the premier eco-experience on the Garden Route. The eco-tour, which was closed for months following the devastating fires in Knysna in 2017, has recently been relaunched after a 18-month rehabilitation project to restore the natural fynbos vegetation on the head.

Take a return trip on a Featherbed Co ferry across the Knysna Lagoon to the Western Head. From there, a 4×4 vehicle & trailer will take you up the headland onto the reserve, stopping at spectacular viewpoints. A specialist guide will give you information about the history of Featherbed, the fauna and flora.

An optional guided 2.2km walk through coastal forest and fynbos will take you down to the ancient sea caves.

Thereafter you will be treated to Featherbed’s world renowned buffet lunch at the brand new outdoor restaurant, set under a canopy of milkwood trees.

This is a wonderful family outing, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
